A pulled pork purveyor with neighborhood flair

Jim 'N' Nick's was conceived in Birmingham, AL (much like myself), and quickly expanded across the Southeast and beyond—but wanted to maintain a neighborhood feel without pretense. In order to do the down-home authenticity of the brand justice, my team at Big Communications and I developed a site that leveraged geolocation to automatically plug you into your local store, complete with unique menu, hours and contact info.

Another UX decision made in the interest of shortening the distance between a hungry patron and a plate of pulled pork was to simplify the mobile experience tremendously (responsively via CSS and smartly serving assets), essentially leaving nothing but the navigation as the site's home page. No fluff, no images, just easily tappable access to find what you want to eat, what number to call, and how to get there.
